3 thoughts on Dylan Raiola’s commitment to Ohio State Football
Ohio State football landed another significant quarterback commitment on Monday, getting the top QB in 2024 in five-star Dylan Raiola.
While college football teams continue to duke it out for the commitment of Arch Manning in the 2023 recruiting class, the top quarterback in 2024, Dylan Raiola, has already made a decision.
The top-ranked quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 1 overall prospect according to the On3 consensus rankings, pledged to the Ohio State football program on Monday night following a recent visit to Columbus.
Dylan Raiola is the younger brother of former Detroit Lion and NFL standout, Dominic Raiola. He’s 6-foot-3, 225 pounds out of Chandler, Arizona and he chose Ohio State football over a number of other suitors including USC, Georgia, and Texas.
The Trojans were actually thought to be the leader at one time for Raiola and even received a couple of crystal ball projections for the five-star QB. However, his visit to Columbus really shifted things, and Ryan Day, who has landed a number of elite signal-callers in his short time as Ohio State football coach, did it again.
Here are three thoughts on a major recruiting win for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State football might be QBU
There are a number of college football programs in the mix for this title. Alabama is there. Oklahoma too and USC is trying to become that with Lincoln Riley and after the addition of Caleb Williams in the transfer portal and Malachi Nelson in the 2023 class.
However, the production of Ohio State football quarterbacks since Day has taken over as head coach has been unmatched. Justin Fields was off the charts and became a top-10 draft pick, while C.J. Stroud was a Heisman finalist in his first season as a starter.
Stroud will contend for the Heisman again in 2022 and he’s also going to be a top-5 pick. The Buckeyes weren’t able to keep Quinn Ewers, the top QB in the 2022 class before he re-classified but that’s because Stroud is so good and Ewers wanted to start in 2022, not watch.
Now after Stroud plays in the 2022 season for the Buckeyes, Ohio State football can turn to Kyle McCord, a five-star in the 2021 class or Devin Brown, the No. 43 overall recruit in 2022.
Day and Ohio State football will choose between those elite prospects for its starter in 2023, then, it will have a potential No. 1 overall pick coming to campus for the 2024 season.
So in terms of quarterback recruiting, nobody is doing it better than Ohio State right now.
