Antonio Johnson was a breakout performer for Texas A&M last season, earning some recognition as one of the top defensive backs in the SEC.

The former top-100 recruit in the 2020 class was the No. 4 safety in the nation and top prospect from the state of Illinois, according to the composite. While he had a quiet freshman season with 14 tackles and a pass breakup in four games, he turned that in for a huge sophomore campaign.

In fact, he finished with 79 total tackles (second on the team), 8.5 tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, and five pass breakups.

Johnson is more of a nickel/safety hybrid and looks like the top returning defender on the team and the Aggies’ current top NFL draft prospect.

Texas A&M’s secondary will be in good hands with Jaylon Jones, Demani Richardson, and Johnson and all three could be on NFL rosters next season.
