Brandon Inniss: Top 5 contenders for 5-star WR in 2023 college football recruiting class

2. Alabama

When it comes to wide receivers, no programs can sell more success on the college football recruiting trail than Alabama or Ohio State.

The Crimson Tide have had a number of first-round wide receivers under Nick Saban and Jameson Williams was just the latest.

Brandon Inniss could become the next of those guys down the road, which is certainly something the Tide are selling and it’s working as he is taking an official visit to Alabama on June. 3.

Alabama hasn’t received a crystal ball projection and is currently fourth in the recruitment according to the On3.com prediction machine which has Ohio State football first (59 percent), followed by USC football (33 percent), Miami (2.1 percent), and Alabama at 1.7 percent.

But that visit is why Bama is above USC in my opinion. We’ll see how things play out because as we have already seen with Inniss, things can change quickly.

1. Ohio State football

A number of top college football recruiting experts agree that Ohio State football is the favorite. Chad Simmons and Sam Spiegelman, both of On3’s top national analysts have projections for the Buckeyes who are the leader according to the prediction machine.

Ohio State football has also received the last three crystal ball projections including one this weekend from an Oklahoma insider Brandon Drumm, as well as 247 national analyst Steve Wiltfong.

The fact that two wide receivers went in the first round of the draft last year, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba to follow this season, Ohio State has an easy sales pitch and it appears to be working.
