Zach Charbonnet proved to be one of the best transfers in college football last season, coming over from Michigan and having an immediate impact on the UCLA backfield.

The former four-star recruit was coming off a decent two-year stretch with the Wolverines with 850 yards and 12 touchdowns in 18 games but he didn’t have the pass-catching element added to his game yet. He was more of a one-dimensional back who ran between the tackles and picked up tough yardage.

That all changed in 2021 when he burst onto the scene for the Bruins, rushing for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry and he added 24 receptions for 197 yards.

Charbonnet is an explosive back who’s a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. He has great size as well at 6-1 and 220 pounds. He is a load to take down and he can still blow by people, making him a true threat on offense.

There’s a good chance he’ll be a Doak Walker Award finalist this season and the top running back in the Pac-12 so a Day 2 selection could be in his future in the 2023 NFL Draft.
