Lane Kiffin anointed himself as the transfer portal king earlier this offseason and the Ole Miss football coach struck again this past weekend.

There’s no doubt that the transfer portal has changed the landscape of college football. The offseason is totally different and it’s allowed some teams to change the way they recruit.

One of those programs is Ole Miss football. The Rebels have done a better job on the recruiting trail since Lane Kiffin has come on as head coach but it’s always going to be hard for the Rebels to compete with Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Florida on the trail, not to mention Tennessee which is also on the rise and Auburn, etc.

But Kiffin, the self-proclaimed “portal king”, is a big name in college football and he’s got a great rapport with recruits. It’s the biggest reason why five-star QB Jaden Rashada is still considering Ole Miss football in the 2023 recruiting class, despite the Rebels already having a QB commitment.

So players want to play for him. Plus Ole Miss football has a lot to offer. The Rebels are fresh off a New Year’s Six Bowl and play in the SEC. Kiffin is also known as an offensive guru.

Ole Miss continues to crush it in the transfer portal

That has led to a number of key additions this offseason such as five-star QB Jaxson Dart, top running back Zachary Evans, tight end Michael Trigg, wideout Malik Heath, and now another wide receiver, this time former UCF standout Jaylon Robinson.

Robinson is the third wide receiver to join Ole Miss football via the transfer portal and he might be the most exciting. Two years ago, he caught 55 passes for 976 yards and six touchdowns, and last season, in six games, he caught 18 for 322 but still averaged 17.8 yards per catch.

At 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, Robinson can be a dynamic presence in the slot and averaged over 17 yards per catch in 2020 also, so he’s an explosive play waiting to happen and with all the other pieces added to the Ole Miss offense, he could be the final one needed for that slot position.

Heath can provide the 6-foot-3 presence on the outside and Trigg was one of the top tight ends available in the transfer portal.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out, but the transfer portal king has struck again.
