The Jimbo Fisher vs. Nick Saban rivalry is just what college football needs
The Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban rivalry is nothing short of perfect for college football fans. It’s been a while since there’s been this type of drama.
There’s nothing better than a good, old-fashioned college football rivalry.
Two sides that hate each other and would give everything just to beat the other on any given day. Well, it looks like there’s a new rivalry budding in college football this summer as Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher have sounded off on each other in a big way.
It all stemmed from an interview where Saban stated that 25 of his players earned NIL revenue totaling $3 million and they did it “the right way” while Jimbo and Texas A&M “bought every player” on the team.
Here’s the eye-opening quote:
That shot reached Jimbo and he wasn’t too pleased with how his former boss called him out. He went as far as saying that Saban has some skeletons in his closet and maybe he shouldn’t be treated like the “czar of college football” when he’s also hiding things.
A somewhat shocking quote given that it’s from one coach about another and the two used to work together, but anyone who has followed college football knows that Jimbo probably isn’t wrong. “Buying players” has been happening for decades and Saban probably isn’t safe from criticism in this realm.
Either way, this fiery quote by Jimbo and imminent response from Saban gives us college football fans exactly what we wanted: another hated rivalry.
Texas A&M got the better of Alabama last season in a shocker and now we get to sit back and watch what’s going to happen in Tuscaloosa this year. Will Saban unleash wrath or will Jimbo have his guys ready, built on bulletin board material?
One thing is for certain: I, along with the rest of college football fans, will have my popcorn ready on Oct. 8 for that post-game handshake after a heated battle.
