Texas A&M football came under fire after a Nick Saban quote earlier in the week and Jimbo Fisher responded with a fiery media session.

It’s only May and we may already have the biggest storyline of the offseason thus far.

The new Jimbo Fisher vs. Nick Saban rivalry that’s been boiling over this week has caught everyone’s attention and after Texas A&M football was put under a microscope following the Alabama head coach’s quote about buying players, the Aggies’ coach fired back.

Earlier in the week, Saban talked about NIL and how 25 of his players earned a large amount of money “the right way” while Texas A&M bought every player on the roster.

Obviously, Jimbo didn’t take those comments lightly and went off on his former boss on Thursday afternoon.

Fisher opened some eyes, stating that people should “dig into his past” when talking about Saban, hinting at the Hall of Famer’s shadiness.

This wasn’t the only surprising jab at Saban in the presser as he also stated that “it’s easy” to be considered the greatest of all time when you have every advantage. He went on to state that he learned how to coach from Bobby Bowden and how not to do things from Saban.

Jimbo finished the conversation by stating that Saban had been trying to call him since his quote was made but he wasn’t going to answer the phone, stating “We’re done.”

Overall, this calls into question the character of Saban. Jimbo repeated that Saban showed his true colors and that’s who he is and he knows that Nick has done “despicable” things as a coach. Urging reporters to “talk to every coach he’s ever worked with” and to look into his past because they’ll find out some interesting things was a bold move.

College football fans are drooling over that Oct. 8 matchup in Tuscaloosa already.

Nothing like some mid-May fireworks to hold us over until fall camp.
