What’s Holstein’s career trajectory?

The decision to take Holstein was smart for a couple of reasons: one is that it was pretty clear Alabama trailed for Arch Manning and two, Holstein is a really good for for the Crimson Tide.

He’s a 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback, and while he’s athletic, he’s not known as a running quarterback. He’s accurate and he’s a guy with an NFL future if his development goes as planned.

Yet, Holstein might need to bide his time with Alabama football. After Bryce Young exits the stage after next season, 2022 five-star quarterback Ty Simpson could be the guy to take the reins. Holstein will have a chance to compete but Alabama isn’t going to be counting on him right away, just like it won’t count on Simpson to start next season.

The Tide have a very proven track record of developing quarterbacks and given Holstein’s skill level, fans won’t regret that Saban made this decision a few years down the road.
