3. Jack Plumb, OT

With the departure of Tyler Linerbaum, Jack Plumb is now the most seasoned veteran of this young offensive line. Iowa struggled last year to give the quarterbacks, Spencer Petras and Alex Padilla, time to throw downfield. Iowa also ranked close to last when it came to yards per attempt in the rushing department.

If the Iowa offensive line as a unit can extend the time in the pocket for Petras to let plays develop downfield, and open up holes in the run game, Iowa would be in good shape. Jack Plumb will be a major part of this development of the offensive line.

Plumb is listed now as the starting right tackle next to Connor Colby who had a good freshman year for the Hawkeyes and saw action at the guard and tackle spots before settling down at the right guard position. While one player can not fix an entire offensive line, Plumb’s experience being a redshirt senior can help better develop a young core up front.
