Notre Dame football suffered a decommitment last week but its momentum wasn’t stalled long after the commitment of 4-star RB Jayden Limar.

The Notre Dame football team wasn’t without a running back commitment in the 2023 recruiting class for long as just days after losing the pledge of Sedrick Irvin Jr., the Irish landed four-star running back Jayden Limar out of Lake Stevens, Washington.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back is ranked No. 265 overall according to the On3 consensus rankings as well as the 16th-ranked running back in 2023.

This is important for the Irish because it at least gives them a four-star running back in the fold and while they are targeting others, Limar is still a big addition.

This is another Notre Dame victory over Michigan on the trail too which fans of the Fighting Irish won’t mind. The Wolverines made a push for Limar, along with Oregon, but Notre Dame was the clear leader and there was no doubt Thursday about where he was going.

Last season, he ran for 1,549 yards and 20 touchdowns and averaged over seven yards per attempt. He also had over 300 yards receiving and should prove to be a big-play threat out of the backfield.

It’s also another nice win for the Irish, who have the No. 1 class in 2023 according to On3 with 13 commitments and 12 of them blue-chips.

What’s next for Notre Dame football recruiting?

Sticking with running back, as I said, Notre Dame likely isn’t done at the position. The Irish went into the 2023 cycle aiming for at least two running backs and the next candidate to commit at the position is Jeremiyah Love, a four-star running back and dynamic athlete out of St. Louis.

When Irvin was in the fold still and Limar was trending to Notre Dame, Love didn’t seem like as big a priority but maybe the coaching staff was looking for Irvin’s replacement all along because they knew his commitment was coming.

Love is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and he’s more than just a runner. Michigan is also recruiting him really hard and it looks like the Wolverines would take him as a running back or DB.

It appears that Love would like to play offense. He’s really good at catching the ball too and has different skill sets to offer an offense.

Notre Dame and Michigan will each host him for a visit next month. The Irish lead according to the On3 prediction machine 34-29 percent over Michigan. There are no crystal ball projections for Love at this time.
