Breaking down two key standouts from the Ole Miss football spring game.

The spring game is a chance for players and coaches to look at how things will operate this season. For Ole Miss football, there is a lot to look at as the next season gets closer. With close to an entirely new roster, coaches will be able to evaluate how new players are developing and learning a new system.

The Rebels this off-season brought in a lot of new players from the transfer portal. Many will be day one starters, while others will provide needed depth. The spring game is the first time some fans will hear about these players. Others who follow the team closely will already know.

While the spring game is not the best way to judge how the season will go, it does give some perspective on what to expect next season. The scrimmage allows players to display what they have been working on this off-season. Some are still competing for starting positions, so they go harder to prove their worth.

Several Rebels stood out during the spring game and could impact the following season. On the offensive side of the ball running back, Ulysses Bentley IV is a player who showed great potential. Staying with the offense, tight-end Micheal Trigg put on a show during the spring game.

Both defenses did a solid job and made plays, but there was no stand-out player from the game. There were some splash plays and some missed tackles. Overall the defense looks like it is still improving.
