Ulysses Bentley

The Rebel’s biggest strength going into next season is the running back position. They have lots of talent with good depth. One of the standout running backs in the spring game was Ulysses Bentley IV. Bentley is a recent transfer from SMU.

Bentley shared touches with Zach Evans for the Red team during the spring game. Evans took the primary carries while Bentley came in to give Evans a break.

While Bentley was on the field, he made plays on the ground and through the air. His biggest play came on a short pass from Altmyer out of the backfield, which he then turned into a 42-yard play. During this play, Bentley showed off his catching ability, quickness, and elusiveness. He has the speed to get away from defenders and create big plays. He finished that drive with a three-yard touchdown run.

This year, Ole Miss football will need Bentley to make plays out of the backfield in the passing game. In the passing game, the Rebels had lots of success using Jerrion Ealy from the running back position in past seasons.

Bentley could be the perfect replacement for Ealy this season. If Bentley can carry on the production from the spring game into next season, he could be in for a big year. He may not have eye-popping stats, but he could become a pivotal player on offense for the Rebels.
