Michael Trigg

The biggest takeaway from the spring game for the Rebels is tight end Micheal Trigg can be a big-time player for the Rebels. Ole Miss football has a history of developing talented pass catchers, and Trigg might be the next great receiver to wear red and navy.

With early struggles from quarterback Jaxson Dart. Trigg got off to a slow start. He did catch a slant pass that he turned upfield for a solid gain. As the game went on, Trigg grew more into the game. His first notable catch was a touchdown pass from Kinkead Dent. He caught two more touchdown pass, all coming inside the red zone. Trigg proved he would be a miss-match in the red zone due to his size and athleticism. He made three contested catches in the end zone, including one where he out-lept two defenders.

Trigg finished the game with seven catches for 89 yards. He scored three touchdowns and also converted a two-point conversion. Trigg was the biggest stand out of any pass catcher. He was the most involved and active of any receiver. Trigg proved he will be a mismatch for most defenders and could be a big problem for SEC defenses.

Trigg also showed off his ability to make plays after the catch. With his size, he can break tackles and overpower smaller defenders. He is also quick enough to get separation and create big plays with his speed.

The Rebels have a freak athlete in Trigg on the offensive side of the ball. If the Rebels can find success next season, expect Micheal Trigg to be one of the main contributors.
