5-star QB Dante Moore visiting is huge for Texas A&M Football
Texas A&M football has work to do at the quarterback position in the 2023 recruiting class but getting five-star QB Dante Moore to College Station for a visit is huge.
Earlier this week, when Eli Holstein, a former Texas A&M football commitment pledged to Alabama, there was talk of a quarterback domino falling.
Essentially, it was about Alabama being out of the mix for five-star QB Arch Manning. However, other dominoes are starting to fall, or they are at least getting lined up as Jaden Rashada and Dante Moore are the two five-star QBs to watch along with Arch.
For Texas A&M football, there was never much interest from Arch Manning. The Aggies had Holstein committed but since he re-opened things and later committed to Alabama, Jimbo Fisher and crew have been scrambling.
Rashada has been a key target and while the Aggies are trending up in his recruitment, at least a little bit, according to the On3.com prediciton machine, Dante Moore might be the best opportunity for A&M to get a five-star QB in the 2023 class.
Dante Moore’s visit to A&M is a huge opportunity
Moore recently visited Michigan football, the in-state program, and one-time leader but he followed that up by scheduling an unofficial visit to Texas A&M football on June 17-19.
Here’s what Moore told 247 sports about the Aggies and what caught his interest:
"“The only visit scheduled right now for Dante Moore, as of the weekend, was Texas A&M for June 17 through the 19. That’s actually an opportunity for him to get down there, learn more about the history of the program. And he told me he’s very curious on how Texas A&M signed the No. 1 class, and he’d like to see what’s special down there. And so, A&M turning Dante Moore’s head a little bit.”"
NIL is going to be a factor for a quarterback like Moore but I don’t think that’s what he’s talking about here. He wants to win, have a chance to play right away, and play for an elite program. A&M can offer all that, plus Jimbo Fisher has his own track record of developing NFL QBs.
What’s interesting to me is that it’s an unofficial visit. That opens the door for him to come back for an official visit to College Station and that’s what will need to happen in my view for the Aggies to be a real threat.
This first visit is about becoming a player in this recruitment and if that mission is successful, and the Aggies get Dante Moore back on campus, then who knows, A&M could land a five-star QB in 2023 after all.
