South Carolina football is trending for a top-200 quarterback  Dante Reno in the 2024 recruiting class.

If things go as some college football recruiting experts think in the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes for South Carolina football, the Gamecocks will be landing back-to-back four-star quarterbacks.

In the 2023 class, Dylan Lonergan is one of the top-ranked signal-callers that is still uncommitted and he’s ranked 81st overall according to the On3.com consensus rankings. Lonergan is also ranked ninth among quarterbacks.

Adding him to the 2023 class would be a huge move all by itself and the Gamecocks are the leader right now according to the On3 prediciton machine which gives South Carolina football a 60-percent chance right now to win his commitment. The crystal ball projections have also been going the way of the Gamecocks too with two this week, both at a confidence of six or higher.

However, that’s not the only good news lately for South Carolina. The Gamecocks picked up a commitment from a four-star offensive lineman Trovon Baugh (according to On3 rankings) on Saturday and also this week, USC got a huge pair of crystal ball projections for 2024.

QB Dante Reno projected to South Carolina football

As I said when the Gamecocks added Baugh, Beamer is getting a reputation as a really solid recruiter. South Carolina football had the 23rd overall class in the 2022 class and also added former five-star Spencer Rattler in the transfer portal.

Now, South Carolina has received two crystal ball projections for four-star 2024 quarterback Dante Reno who is ranked 186th overall, as well as 16th among QBs according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Reno is out of Windsor, Connecticut, and is 6-foot-1, 215 pounds. He plays in Massachusetts and has shown heavy interest in the Gamecocks since March and he’s been on campus twice since then with another trip set for June.

The consensus four-star quarterback is also getting heavy interest from Georgia, LSU, and Florida. He’s also visited Clemson twice unofficially.

But Beamer, whose dad coached for years at Virginia Tech in the Northeast, has built a really strong relationship with Reno who is projected to land with South Carolina according to the On3.com prediction machine, which put the percentage at 39 for the Gamecocks.

We’ll see if South Carolina can close with either, but right now, it’s clear that they are the favorite for both.
