Nebraska football is starting to build some momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2023 class and two top targets are trending to the Huskers.

The Nebraska football program overhauled its offensive coaching staff this offseason and the dividends are starting to be seen on the recruiting trail.

The Huskers have just five commitments so far in the 2023 recruiting class, which ranks 38th overall according to the 247 sports team composite rankings.

However, Nebraska football could be slated to move up as the Huskers picked up some important crystal ball projections ahead of a major visit weekend.

The biggest prediction for the Huskers came from Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports, who has a crystal ball in for Nebraska football to land four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring out of Michigan.

Herring is ranked 217th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he’s ranked ninth among interior offensive linemen. Michigan was the clear crystal ball leader and was supposed to get Herring on campus for a visit this month.

Yet, there was some sort of mix up and the only official visit Herring is scheduled to take right now is this weekend to Nebraska. With that in mind, Wiltfong is predicting that the Huskers will win this recruitment and he used a confidence level of six (1-10 scale).

Nebraska football has also taken the lead according to the On3.com prediction machine. The Huskers now have a 52-percent chance to win Herring’s commitment. Michigan is at 48.

The Wolverines haven’t prioritized Herring quite like the Huskers have and this weekend will be a huge opportunity for the staff to close.

Is Nebraska football closing in on a commitment?

Mickey Joseph has been outstanding on the recruiting trail and has a former top-100 LSU commitment on campus this weekend.

However, the Huskers could be getting their second wide receiver commitment sooner than that as three-star Jaidyn Doss is trending with crystal ball projections to Nebraska.

Doss is 6-foot, 190 pounds out of Missouri and he’s ranked 418th overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings. The Huskers also have a better than 98 percent chance of landing his commitment according to On3.

Four 247 sports recruiting experts have projected Doss to land with Nebraska football and with Omarion Miller, the 104th-ranked recruit overall in 2023 and the 18th-ranked wideout also taking an official visit this weekend, fresh off his LSU decommitment, Joseph is on a roll.
