Notre Dame football is trending strongly with more elite recruits in both the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes.

With the way that Notre Dame football is recruiting, the Irish might really make a run at the No. 1 overall spot in the 2023 class when it’s all said and done.

Notre Dame football currently is the No. 1 team according to the 247 sports and On3 team rankings for 2023 but the Irish held that distinction for most of the 2022 cycle too before it was overtaken by Texas A&M and other SEC programs and finished seventh.

As strong as the class was in 2022 and it was very good according to any metric but especially the number of blue chips, Notre Dame football only signed one top-100 recruit.

So far in 2023, the Irish have four top-100 commitments and according to 247 sports analyst Steve Wiltfong and other recruiting experts, they are going to land at least two more.

One of those players is four-star cornerback Christian Gray who is ranked 94th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s expected to announce his commitment on July 4th and has a total of five crystal ball projections in favor of the Irish. He’s 6-foot, 175 pounds, and is ranked 10th overall among cornerbacks out of St. Louis, Missouri.

Yet, Gray isn’t the only 2023 defender that was recently projected to Notre Dame.

Jaiden Ausberry, another top target that Michigan and many others have wanted really bad, just received a crystal ball prediction from Wiltfong with a confidence level of six. He’s ranked 69th overall in the 247 composite and is out of Baton Rouge.

Ausberry is fresh off an official visit and will take one to Michigan on June 24 but for now, it looks like the Irish have pulled ahead.

Elite WR in 2024 projected to Notre Dame

Freeman and the Irish are winning lots of head-to-head battles with Michigan right now and another is for four-star wideout Cam Williams in 2024.

Williams is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and is ranked 138th overall in the 2024 class. He’s 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and is 26th among wideouts, as well as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois.

Michigan has done well in the state of Illinois in recent recruiting cycles but Notre Dame football has done enough that Michigan expert Sam Webb projected Williams to the Irish, which means at the very least, the Wolverines have a ton of work to do.
