Notre Dame football may be losing some key players from last year’s team, but the 2022 Irish will make a serious playoff push.

A new era has begun in South Bend with Brian Kelly bolting for LSU, opening the door for Marcus Freeman to take over as Notre Dame football’s next head coach.

Recruiting has taken off under Freeman and the hope is that the play on the field follows suit despite the first performance for him in the Fiesta Bowl being forgettable.

Although I’m a little skeptical, I do believe that there are reasons that the Irish can make a playoff run in 2022.

3. Experienced offensive line will pave way for loaded offense

It’s hard to call an offense that lost its starting quarterback and a 1,000-yard rusher “loaded” but that’s what Notre Dame brings to the table.

Although Jack Coan and Kyren Williams will be missed, the offense returns four starters on the offensive line which will pave way for guys like Chris Tyree, Logan Diggs, Tyler Buchner, Michael Mayer, Braden Lenzy, and Avery Davis to have big seasons.

Playoff-contending teams usually have one thing in common: a strong offensive line.

Notre Dame’s line had a rough start to the 2021 season but continued to get better and there may be some All-American-type talents up front, such as Jarrett Patterson.

This line is going to cause problems for opponents.
