Oregon is in a good spot with Dante

With Notre Dame essentially taking itself out of the picture for Dante Moore, the Ducks have a chance to seize some momentum.

Moore hasn’t been on campus since this spring but he took an official visit to Oregon and has strong ties to OC Kenny Dillingham. Dante also said positive things about his visit there and the Ducks are sitting third according to the On3 prediction machine.

The No. 8 overall prospect in 2023 and the fourth-ranked quarterback would be a game-changer for the Ducks and new head coach Dan Lanning and they seem to have as good a shot as anyone right now, with LSU, Michigan, and Texas A&M also in the mix.

However, Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports had this to say about Oregon’s chances after Notre Dame decided to take CJ Carr:

"“My take on it is you’ve got Oregon in the best position. I think the Ducks are the one that I’m watching the closest right now.  I think LSU is in the two-hole now. I like where LSU stands. Coach (Joe) Sloan and company have done a good job. He’s always been super high on Brian Kelly, going back to his love for Notre Dame. I think that LSU is a program that’s in good position, and you’ve got some other programs in there — Michigan, Michigan’s in the mix as well, and he’s been to Miami a couple times. But Oregon is the one that I’m watching the closest right now for Dante Moore.”"

That should make Oregon football fans really excited. A&M could also have a shot at landing Rashada, so that will be something to watch because if Moore cancels his visit to College Station, then you can cross A&M off the list too.

That would leave Oregon, Michigan, LSU, as well as Notre Dame, and maybe even Ohio State on the fringe as teams to worry about.

That’s where Johnson comes in. If Oregon takes a commitment from Johnson, it would impact Moore because Michigan still hasn’t offered another 2023 quarterback outside of Arch Manning and the Wolverines haven’t recruited him at all.

Moore has been the top priority for Michigan but if the Ducks take Johnson, it will be hard for them to make that same argument as it is for Notre Dame to make after taking CJ Carr, a five-star QB in the 2024 class.

So are the Ducks going to prioritize Dante Moore and wait for his decision? That’s the one question we don’t have an answer to right now, but this weekend could tell us a lot.
