Texas A&M Football: 3 reasons Aggies will make a playoff run in 2022

2. Devon Achane will be a legit Heisman threat

Gone is Isaiah Spiller, but that may not quite be a death sentence for the Aggies’ run game. Actually, it’s far from it.

Devon Achane had a monster season as Spiller’s backup in 2021, rushing for 910 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns on an impressive 7.0 yards per carry. He was effective on 130 carries and with his production undoubtedly set to increase, he’s going to break 1,000 yards this season and potentially even contend for the Heisman.

This may seem like a drastic jump for a guy who was a backup last season, but he had a better year than the starter and he’s only getting better. He’s going to push for 1,500 yards and be in the top-10 in the final Heisman voting.

Yes, this is my boldest prediction for the season, but I see it happening and Texas A&M will thrive with him taking pressure off a new quarterback.
