After some new reporting, it seems pretty clear that five-star QB Dante Moore is basically down to Michigan football and Oregon football in terms of his commitment.

The recruitment of five-star quarterback Dante Moore appears to be winding down and this weekend could play a pivotal role in his decision-making.

While Notre Dame was viewed as the leader at one point in this recruitment, that was earlier this spring and a lot has changed.

The Irish took the commitment of five-star 2024 QB CJ Carr and whether it was the intention or not, that impacted Dante Moore, who is ranked No. 8 overall in the 2023 class by the On3 consensus and fourth among QBs.

Since then, Michigan football has been gaining more momentum. Moore has been on campus in Ann Arbor probably hundreds of times but took an unofficial visit in June. He also took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M last weekend.

LSU is another team mentioned in the mix and the Tigers actually lead right now according to the On3 prediction machine, but the prediction machine needs an update. Notre Dame and LSU aren’t the top two teams in this recruitment.

That’s Michigan and Oregon football and it’s clear as day.

Why Oregon football and Michigan are the favorites

Chad Simmons of On3.com reported that there was a “strong possibility” that Dante Moore will visit Oregon unofficially this weekend. He took an official visit there earlier in the spring after Notre Dame.

While that should have Oregon football fans very excited, Michigan football fans could have something to be excited about too as Josh Henschke, who covers the Wolverines for Rivals, also reported that Moore is expected to visit Michigan this week or weekend too.

How could this all happen? Moore is going to Los Angeles for the Elite 11 competition that starts on Tuesday, so it would make sense for him to make a visit to Michigan and then stop at Oregon before he makes his way out to LA.

That’s total conjecture on my part. But it’s important to note that Moore was already planning to be on the West coast and is not heading out there specifically to see Oregon.

Yet, it feels like a decision could be coming soon. Moore has grown tired of the process and he’s one that is hard to read. He hasn’t released a top list and doesn’t give many interviews.

The recruiting dead period starts after this weekend, so it makes sense for Moore to get his final visits in if he is planning on making a decision in July.

Most quarterbacks decide before their senior season of high school football and Moore has said before he wants to have the commitment out of the way before then, even though he hasn’t ruled out taking it father if needed.

But if a decision does come relatively soon, there’s no doubt in my mind that the choice will either be Oregon football or Michigan.
