Alabama opens up with a tougher-than-they-look opponent in Utah State.

The Aggies bounced back from a horrid 2020 to win the Mountain West title in 2021. Blake Anderson pulled off a remarkable turnaround, though it should be stated that Utah State is no stranger to winning football.

They have Logan Bonner back at quarterback, and some team continuity now in Anderson’s second year.

But, that’s not enough to beat Alabama. The Tide roll and roll.

Prediction: Alabama 45, Utah State 17 (1-0)

A meeting of two college football titans – and future conference mates – in Austin takes place when Alabama travels to play Texas.

It must be said that while there’s a lot of hype around Texas – especially after Arch Manning committed there – some of it is definitely real. Quinn Ewers should prove to be a notch ahead at quarterback compared to what Texas has had. Bijan Robinson is the best running back in college football and will be a top NFL back in 2023. They’ve got two explosive receivers in Wyoming transfer Isaiah Neyor and 2021 stud Xavier Worthy.

With a subpar defense, though, it’ll be hard for Texas to beat Alabama.

Prediction: Alabama 38, Texas 27 (2-0)
