Penn State football is aiming for bigger things in 2022. Here are three newcomers with the most potential to make a huge splash.

Penn State football has not been living up to its potential the last two seasons. The 2020 season could be viewed as a weird one given all the circumstances, but how about last season? A 5-0 start turned into a 2-6 finish including a bowl game loss.

The fan base is getting restless with head coach James Franklin. At least the vocal part of it on social media. Franklin received a 10-year contract extension and many fans were not happy.

It is time for Franklin and the Nittany Lions to start improving. While a Big Ten title looks out of reach this year, an improvement over the last two seasons is certainly there for the taking.

How can the Lions generate more wins on Saturdays this fall? There are only 11 returning starters and 33 returning lettermen overall. There is plenty of room for underclassmen and newcomers to make an impact on this year’s team.

To narrow down the list, we did not include defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton and running back Nick Singleton. While we think both guys will get plenty of opportunities this year, it seemed a little too obvious to include the five-star recruits.

With that said, let’s get to the three players who will have the most impact on the 2022 edition of the Nittany Lions.
