4. Oklahoma football

Like some other first-year head coaches, Brent Venables and Oklahoma football started a little slow on the recruiting trail in the 2023 class, but over the past two months, the Sooners have really picked it up.

Five-star QB Jackson Arnold remains the top-ranked commitment for OU in the 2023 class and he’s been committed since January. However, four of Oklahoma football’s next top five pledges have all come this month.

Oklahoma has six commitments total this month but Jaquaize Pettaway leads the way at No. 47 overall. The 5-foot-11 wideout should pair nicely with Arnold (No. 31 overall). What’s more, the offense added another elite talent in the trenches in offensive tackle Cayden Green (92nd overall).

Adepoju Adebawore is a top-100 EDGE out of Kansas City that Oklahoma also added this month, along with four-star RB Daylan Smothers out of North Carolina.

Oklahoma football does have more three-star commitments (8) than it does blue-chip prospects but that’s quickly changing and the Sooners are also up to 11th overall in the 247 sports team rankings for the 2023 college football recruiting class.
