Few things feel as inevitable as Zach Evans breaking out in a Lane Kiffin offense.

The former five-star running back has had an interesting start to his collegiate career, rushing for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns on over 7.0 yards per carry with TCU. But Gary Patterson left the TCU program and he decided to hit the transfer portal to look for a better opportunity.

Ole Miss came a-calling and he jumped at the chance to join that explosive offense in Oxford and replace Jerrion Ealy, Henry Parrish Jr., and Snoop Conner. The top three rushers are all gone from the backfield and that means that Evans is going to have to shoulder the load and he has more than enough ability to put up some crazy numbers.

Evans has just 146 career carries for 1,063 yards and nine touchdowns and he’s going to shatter those numbers in 2022 alone. I truly believe he’s going to approach the 1,500-yard mark with a heavy workload and take the SEC by storm.

You could argue that he already broke out with TCU, but 1,000 yards over two years isn’t quite the “breakout” we’re going to see in 2022.
