UCLA Football: Top 3 breakout candidates for the 2022 season

Beginning his career as a running back, Kazmeir Allen has moved over to receiver because there’s more of a need there and his skills match the wideout position. He has the ability to be a threat to carry the ball as well as catch it. He’s going to be a monster in terms of yards after catch this season.

Allen is entering his fourth year with the program and his complete transition to receiver is complete and this is his first season as a full-time starting receiver.

Last season, he had eight rushes for 93 yards but posted a career-high 17 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns. In the three years prior, he had 14 total catches for 104 yards and a touchdown and rushed for just over 250 yards.

I think he’s finally going to play the role that fits him best and he’s going to thrive as one of the go-to targets for an improved Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Chip Kelly needs someone to step up in the receiving corps with four of the top five pass-catchers from last season moving on, and I think Allen is that guy.
