Notre Dame, Texas A&M both aim to flip 4-star QB commit Austin Novosad
There aren’t any high-ranking quarterbacks left uncommitted in the 2023 class which is why Notre Dame football and Texas A&M are trying to flip Austin Novosad from Baylor.
Now that all of the elite quarterbacks are committed in the 2023 college football recruiting class, the powers are left to pick over what’s left and aim for flips.
There are some solid prospects in the three-star range but not much in terms of the four-star prospects, they are all committed outside of Chris Parson and Brock Glenn.
Parson was committed to Florida State but the Seminoles started trending as the favorite for Glenn, which led to Parson reopening his recruitment and getting some crystal balls to Mississippi State.
There could be something similar happening with Baylor QB commitment Austin Novosad, at least if Notre Dame football or Texas A&M has its way.
Both programs have offered Novosad recently and he was also offered by Ohio State. He actually took an official visit to Columbus in June.
Notre Dame just offered earlier this month. Texas A&M football offered in June but also hosted Novosad, who is from Texas, on multiple unofficial visits.
The Buckeyes offered on June 1 and hosted Novosad for a visit but Baylor also hosted its prized 2023 commit for a visit. When Novosad committed to the Bears he was a three-star QB but he’s now ranked No. 150 overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Dripping Springs, Texas is now the No. 11 QB too, plus 247 rates him as a top-100 recruit overall in 2023.
The latest on attempt to flip Austin Novosad
Yet, so far, he hasn’t wavered in his commitment to Baylor, outside of taking visits. However, things could get interesting as Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports reports that the four-star QB will visit Baylor and Notre Dame football this coming week when the dead period ends.
Texas A&M is also in the mix for an unofficial visit.
The quarterback threw for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns last season and has three more official visits if he wants to use them.
A bigger key for the Aggies is getting Novosad back for an official visit. Notre Dame is likely thinking the same thing.
Dave Aranda and company will be trying to prevent that and every time they get Novosad on campus, it’s a good sign of keeping him in the fold for 2023.
The biggest threat feels like Texas A&M football. So watch for that visit next week or an official visit this fall. As a Baylor fan, if I was being honest, the latter would worry me much more.
