Texas A&M Football: Bisontis a needed addition to ’23 class
Don Bosco Prep offensive lineman Chase Bisontis to bring new energy to Texas A&M football and its thus far modest 2023 recruiting class.
At this point last year, Texas A&M football was already turning heads around the nation. While they wouldn’t cement their historic 2022 recruiting class until December (and ultimately not even until February), the groundwork was laid in the summer. That hasn’t been the case with the 2023 class, at least not yet.
Texas A&M picked up three commitments in April, one of which was from a punter. They didn’t have another commitment until four-star edge Daymion Sanford committed at the end of June. With the month of July closing in, the Aggies have added a pledge from Don Bosco Prep offensive lineman Chase Bisontis.
Standing 6-foot-5 and tipping the scales at 290 pounds, Bisontis picked Texas A&M over LSU, Michigan State, and others. He’s athletic, powerful, and will fit in well in the SEC trenches.
Winning on the offensive line and defensive line is essential when it comes to building championship-caliber programs. If A&M can win up front, they can prove they haven’t lost a step in the recruiting game.
Bisontis represents the beginnings of what Texas A&M hopes will be a deep offensive line class to supplement their efforts last year. He’s a versatile interior player and the third top-100 player in the Aggies’ six-man class.
Texas A&M had more five-star signees last fall than they have total commits this July. But Bisontis’ commitment serves as a reminder that it is only July and that the Aggies still have plenty of time to make up ground.
Finishing with the No. 1 overall class isn’t a must, but getting back within the Top 5 is the kind of momentum they need to keep if they want to reach that truly elite recruiting tier. Finding more blue-chippers like Bisontis is a good place to start.
