Florida State football has been trending in the right direction with four-star QB Brock Glenn and now he’s set a commitment date.

It could have been viewed as a bad sign when Florida State football lost the commitment of four-star 2023 QB Chris Parson. But the reason seemed pretty obvious since the Noles had already started trending with expert projections for four-star QB Brock Glenn.

Glenn’s recruitment has been pretty interesting and has taken some twists and turns this summer. For a while, it looked like Auburn was going to land his commitment but after other schools started missing on quarterbacks, Glenn got more attention.

Florida was in the mix before landing a different 2023 QB, as was Ohio State and the Buckeyes still are according to the top five released by Glenn on Thursday that included Florida State, Auburn, Ohio State, TCU, and LSU.

The decommitment of Parson and the breakdown of that relationship makes Glenn a must-get for Florida State football. So is the timeline a good thing for the Noles or a bad thing?

Is Florida State Football still the favorite?

It seems like there are only a couple of serious contenders for Glenn. Ohio State hosted him for a visit but the Buckeyes also hosted Baylor pledge Austin Novosad and he seems like more of a priority.

Plus, since Ohio State already has the No. 1 QB pledged in 2024, if the Buckeyes miss on a quarterback in 2023, it’s not the end of the world.

Auburn was the crystal ball favorite at one time but now the On3 prediction machine gives the Tigers just a 23 percent chance of getting Glenn’s commitment. Florida State football has a 71-percent chance to get one of the final four-star passers who is ranked 20th at the position according to the On3 consensus rankings.

The Tigers hosted him for five visits, while Florida State managed just one. Neither program seems particularly stable long-term with questions about the future of both head coaches, but when there is a trend of crystal balls and On3 expert picks like this, they usually know what’s about to happen and the decommitment of Parson was the biggest hint of all.

The timing only locks it down. If this recruitment was drug out longer, then maybe LSU or a bigger name could get more involved, but this seems like an FSU-Auburn battle and the Seminoles seemed poised to win it.
