Is Quinn Ewers the missing piece?

Inconsistent quarterback play was the biggest issue the Texas Longhorns faced last season, and was followed up by a struggling offensive line.

Ironically, the two biggest stars that shined all of last season were running back Bijan Robinson and Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy. Robinson, a darkhorse candidate for the Heisman Trophy, is arguably the best running back in all of college football and should have a similar season to 2021, where he averaged 112.7 yards a game and rushed for 11 touchdowns.

Worthy on the other hand, shined as just a true freshman last year finishing just shy of 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns on 62 catches. And with the arrival of transfer-quarterback Quinn Ewers of Ohio State, Worthy should replicate those numbers in 2022.

Ewers is one of the most highly recruited high school quarterbacks and one of the most highly recruited players to enter the transfer portal. His big arm talent paired with the Longhorns’ run game, should lead to a highly explosive, big-play offense for Texas.

But once again, all of this will depend on the improvement of the offensive line that returns three starters but one that will include a new left tackle, the backbone of a good passing offense.
