Arkansas football: 3 bold predictions for 2022 season
Razorbacks exact revenge on Alabama at home on October 1
I’m making perhaps the boldest claim possible for the Hogs this season: they will upset the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Arkansas has lost to Alabama every season since 2006. But, they lost to the Tide by just seven points last season, which was the closest they’ve come since 2014 when they lost by one point.
There are a few reasons why you should be bearish that this is the year the Hogs can topple the Tide.
The first reason is that Arkansas has a really underrated advantage going into the contest: they will start off the season with what are essentially five home games.
The Hogs host the Cincinnati Bearcats, South Carolina Gamecocks and the Missouri State Bears all at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for the first three weeks of the season. They will then travel to AT&T Stadium in Dallas for their annual neutral-site game vs Texas A&M.
The routine nature and familiarity of playing the Aggies in this NFL stadium won’t be too much of an adjustment for Arkansas. They will then come back to Fayetteville to face the Tide.
Secondly, as noted above, the Razorbacks were oh so close to defeating Bryce Young and the Tide, despite the eventual Heisman Trophy winner lighting up the Razorbacks for 559 passing yards and five touchdowns.
The Hogs know they can hang with Alabama and will be beaming with confidence going into this contest.
