1. How many games can Indiana football win this fall?

The schedule does the Hoosiers a few favors. They avoid Iowa and Wisconsin from the west but play two of the more improved teams in the west. A lot has to come together for the Hoosiers to have a chance at six wins, but it will be complicated.

Win-loss predictions

Game 1: vs. Illinois (L): I know that the Illini are coming off a short week and playing a road game, but Illinois should have an easy time against Wyoming. Illinois can run the football, and the Hoosiers struggle to stop the run.

Game 2: vs. Idaho (W):  Good rebound game against an FCS opponent.

Game 3: vs. Western Kentucky (W): No Baliey Zappe, no Mitchell Kinsey for the Hilltoppers. Indianan wins by more this season.

Game 4: @ Cincinnati (W): The Bearcats lose nine players to the NFL Draft, including its three best players, Desmond Ridder, Jerome Ford, and Ahmaud Gardner. Hoosiers with an upset here.

Game 5: @ Nebraska (L): The ‘Huskers will be much improved. Casey Thompson torches the Hoosiers in their second road game.

Game 6: vs. Michigan (L): Michigan wants to run the football, but Indiana can’t stop the run. Hasan Haskins ran for 168 rushing yards, and Blake Corum will do the same this season.

Game 7: vs. Maryland (L): The Terrapins have three receivers, Dontay Demus, Rakim Jarrett, and Jashaun Jones, to who the Hoosiers have no answer.

Game 8: @ Rutgers (W): The Scarlet Knights have the worst roster in the conference. Indiana picks up a win in Piscataway.

Game 9: vs. Penn State (L): The Nittany Lions shut the Hoosiers out last season. Expect a similar result this season.

Game 10: @ Ohio State (L): This looks like another 50-burger for the Buckeyes.

Game 11: @ Michigan State (L): This was a close game last season. That might be difficult to duplicate for the Hoosiers this season.

Game 12: vs. Purdue (L): The Boilermakers won the Oaken Bucket last season. They make it two in a row this year.

Prediction: 4-8, 1-7 Big Ten

The Hoosiers are going to find it hard to get wins. They don’t have the roster to compete against the top of the Big Ten East, and Maryland will be better. The Hoosiers will play hard and be better if they can stay healthy.
