Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian believes the team has gotten rid of last year’s woes and turned over a new page in the process. Will he be proven correct in 2022?

This year’s Texas football team looks to explode, should things break the right way. Although they’re out of the top 25 and were picked to finish fourth in the Big XII, there’s more to it. They’ve got one of the best quarterback prospects in Quinn Ewers, top-end offensive weapons in Bijan Robinson and Xavier Worthy, and a defense that could be improved in 2022.

But, this is a team facing one of the toughest schedules in college football. They could be much improved, yet go 7-5 and still have Sark end up on the hot seat going into next year.

2414. Sept. 3. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Austin, TX. 1. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Terry Bowden had a pretty good first year out in Monroe, going 4-8 after an 0-10 2020 campaign. However, this team only returns 58 percent of their production from last year and were third worst in the Sun Belt at net yards per play.

Boogie Knight may well introduce himself and make a play for the Warhawks, but this should be an easy Texas win.

Prediction: Win (1-0)

So Texas wants an early-season test, huh? Well, Alabama’s gonna give Texas that test.

All that has been said about Alabama is all that needs to be said about them. They’ve got the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Bryce Young, the best defensive player in college football in Will Anderson, and a whole bunch of first-round draft picks hanging out on both sides of the ball.

Sure, the Longhorns could make a major statement and win this game. It’s possible. But, it isn’t very likely at all.

Prediction: Loss (1-1)
