Clemson: Several players have had nagging injuries during summer and fall camp.

The Clemson football team is dealing with a ton of nagging injuries in camp. Defensive end Xavier Thomas suffered a foot injury on August 15 that could keep him out of action for up to six weeks. Fortunately for the Tigers, they have depth along the defensive line.

It is interesting, however, that defensive tackle Bryan Bresee is returning after missing last season with a knee injury. How long will it take for Bresee to round into form? Xavier Thomas and Myles Murphy also return after missing some previous seasons with nagging injuries.  Redshirt sophomore Tre Williams had knee surgery but hoped to be back by the season opener.

A shoulder injury forced safety Lannden Zanders to retire. Another defensive back, freshman Myles Oliver has been shut down for the season with a shoulder injury. Though neither was expected to start, the injuries affected Clemson’s depth in the defensive backfield.

Wide receivers Beaux Collins and E.J. Williams have sometimes been held out of practice because of injury.  Receivers Brannon Spector and Joe Ngata have returned from injury and played well during camp.

Although none of these injuries are season-ending, this was last season’s cycle for Clemson. Players had issues staying healthy and missing significant time.
