Penn State Football: Game-by-game predictions for Nittany Lions in 2022
By Shane Lunnen
After a tough loss, the Nittany Lions return home to host Minnesota in a White Out. This is also Penn State’s Homecoming and the team will don their Generations of Greatness uniforms which seem to be a hit with the fanbase.
This will be Minnesota’s first time playing in a White Out and it may be intimidating to the Gophers at first. However, they should be competing in a wide-open Big Ten West this year and this game should be competitive. In the end, though the Lions have the advantage of the crowd behind them. They will pull out a fairly close victory and gain back the Governor’s Victory Bell.
Prediction: Penn State wins 28-20 (5-2, 3-1)
The Buckeyes come to Happy Valley in front of a full crowd for the first time since the 2018 season. It will not be a full stadium White Out crowd but the fans will be raring to go regardless.
The Nittany Lions have not won in the series since 2016 but most of the matchups have been close. A pair of heartbreaking one-point losses in back-to-back years. Last season the Buckeyes won by 9 points in Columbus but the game was even closer than the final score indicated.
The problem for Penn State is they must play near close to a perfect game in order to beat Ohio State. The talent gap between the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions, and really the rest of the conference, is large. Expect another close game but the Buckeyes best the Lions once again.
Prediction: Ohio State wins 30-27 (5-3, 3-2)
