15. Michigan State: Spartans make another NY6 bowl

Michigan State had a massive turnaround in year two of Mel Tucker (really just year 1.5 due to COVID-19) and many are expecting a step back in 2022. I’m not in that same boat. While I think this schedule sets up for the Spartans to lose 3-4 regular-season games, Tucker got all of his players to buy in and they’re going to finish with 10 wins and a New Year’s Six berth again. Recruiting should take another step forward because of this.

14. USC: Trojans win 10-plus regular-season games

Clay Helton’s final season with USC was as underwhelming as expected, but the additions of Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams, and Jordan Addison are going to make this team one of the best in college football. While the defense may not be quite as impressive as the offense, this team will take a massive step in the right direction after a 4-8 year. I see USC finishing with at least 10 regular-season wins.

13. NC State: Devin Leary passes for 4,000 yards

Listen, a lot of people are going to sit here and tell you that NC State is going to upend Clemson and Pitt and win the ACC title with ease, but I’m not going to do that. Actually, I think the Wolfpack might finish somewhere in the 8-9 win range but that doesn’t mean we won’t see Devin Leary build on a breakout year. He had 3,500 yards and 35 touchdowns last year, but he’ll break 4,000 yards this season.
