12. Oklahoma State: Cowboys win another NY6 bowl

I was a little hesitant to buy stock in Oklahoma State heading into this season, but the experience of Spencer Sanders is going to help and I’m a Mike Gundy believer — the mullet really speaks to me. I do think the Cowboys are going to have another solid season with a rather favorable schedule in terms of home and away and they’ll make and win another New Year’s Six bowl game. No Big 12 title, though.

11. Oregon: Ty Thompson takes over as QB1 after Georgia game

This prediction isn’t based on how good or bad I think Oregon will be, but rather what I believe the Ducks will find out sooner rather than later. Bo Nix transferred in from Auburn, but I think Ty Thompson is the more talented quarterback and he’s going to show that after the Ducks get beat down in the opener against Georgia. Thompson will take over and never look back and it’ll be great for the program.

10. Baylor: Bears finish with Big 12’s best defense

Baylor had one of the Big 12’s best defenses last year, finishing second in terms of scoring and fourth in total yards allowed per game, but I think the Bears will finish No. 1 in both categories this season. Dave Aranda is a great coach and a defensive mind and he’ll have this team playing at a high level on that side of the ball. However, I do think the loss of Gerry Bohanon is actually going to hurt and the Bears won’t repeat as Big 12 champs.
