Michigan football had its best season under Jim Harbaugh in 2021. The Wolverines won the Big Ten and went to the playoff. Can they repeat that success?
The Michigan Wolverines finally did it. They beat Ohio State and won the Big Ten for the first time under head coach Jim Harbaugh, making the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history. Most college football fans would argue that Michigan fulfilled its potential as a football program.
Harbaugh brought “intellectual brutality” to Ann Arbor this season. The Wolverines were one of the best rushing teams last season, averaging 214 rushing yards per game, good for 15th in the country. Hasan Haskins and Blake Corum combined for over 2,200 yards last season.
Defensively, David Ojabo and Aidan Hutchinson combined for 25 sacks, terrorizing opposing quarterbacks. Daxton Hill was one of the best defensive backs in the country last season.
Their 34-11 loss to Georgia proved the program does not yet have the roster to compete amongst college football’s elite. The question that has to be answered is whether or not Michigan wants to try and compete at this level every year or every 5-10 years.
As much as media pundits derided Harbaugh for not beating Ohio State or playing well in the postseason, most of the brass at Michigan seemed satisfied with winning nine or ten games every season and coming in second to Ohio State.
How will the Wolverines fare this fall? Here is a look at their offense, defense, and schedule.
