Nebraska football

Nebraska has really hit rock bottom. 20 years ago, it seemed impossible for the Huskers to win fewer than nine games and now, nine games might seem like a miracle.

Nebraska won three games last season and has won just 15 of the 44 games that Scott Frost has been the head coach. Yet, with a new coaching staff on offense, a new quarterback (Casey Thompson from Texas), and a bunch of other transfer portal additions, there is hope in Lincoln.

Mark Whipple, the former Pitt OC was the big hire. He did wonders with Kenny Pickett and if he can do the same with Thompson, there’s no reason to think Nebraska football can’t win eight games or so in 2022.

The defense was solid. It was the turnovers, the poor QB play, and the awful special teams that kept Nebraska from going bowling in 2021. This year, it can’t get worse and unless Frost goes at least 7-5, he won’t be the head coach anymore.

That’s a prediction that’s not so bold.

Projected turnaround: 3 wins to eight.
