1. Ole Miss Rebels

I was surprised to see Ole Miss all the way down at No. 21 in the first preseason rankings, but I guess the Rebels are just going to have to feed off that disrespect.

It was slightly disrespectful for the AP to rank Ole Miss behind teams like Kentucky, Arkansas, and Pitt. And those are just the three teams directly in front of the Rebels, but they’re better than each one and I’d put money on that.

Lane Kiffin may have lost Matt Corral to the NFL but he replaced him with former highly-touted prospect and USC transfer Jaxson Dart. He’s going to fit the Ole Miss offense like a glove and he’ll be joined by Zach Evans who’s going to take a ton of pressure off of him in the backfield. Jonathan Mingo returns at receiver, Malik Heath comes over from Mississippi State, Michael Trigg has transferred in from USC, and the defense could very well improve.

Ole Miss finished the 2021 regular season with 10 wins and I could see the Rebels pushing for that number this year, but apparently they’re only the sixth-best SEC team, per the AP Poll.
