Clemson football did not make the playoff for the first time since 2014. Can the Tigers win the ACC and return to the playoff?

If you told many fans across college football that their team won ten games and their bowl, most would say, “sign me up, please.” However, this is Clemson football, where best is the standard. Last season was disappointing for many in the Tigers’ program.

the Pitt Panthers snapped Clemson’s six-year reign as ACC champions after losses to North Carolina State and Pitt. Their run in the College Football Playoff also ended last season. Head coach Dabo Swinney and his staff offer no excuses, but Clemson had a host of adversity that it could not overcome.

One point of adversity the Tigers could not overcome was injuries. Clemson had significant injuries on both sides of the ball. Star running backs Will Shipley and Kobe Pace missed time with injuries, as did wide receivers E.J. Williams and Frank Ladson.

Defensively, their deepest position, the defensive line, was hit hardest with injuries. Star lineman Bryan Bresee had his year cut short due to a knee injury. Myles Murphy, Xavier Thomas, and K.J. Henry all missed time due to injury.

This is a new year, and the Tigers hope they don’t have the lousy injury luck they had last season.

Also, there are changes to the coaching staff.
