The 2022 college football season is finally upon us. With the season just starting, here are the top 25 storylines for what should be a great season.

A new season is upon us.

As we embark on another season, fans all over the world are filled with hope and optimism that this is their year. It truly is a special time of year for football fans. As we set off on our maiden voyage, here are the top 25 storylines for the 2022 college football season.

1. Georgia vs. Oregon

This season is filled with some huge games (we’ll discuss a few of them) that will provide college football fans with plenty of exciting matchups and implications, but one of the most fascinating matchups will be in week one in Atlanta when the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs square off against a few familiar faces at Oregon.

Ducks head coach Dan Lanning, the defensive coordinator at Georgia last year to one of the greatest defenses in college football history, took his talents to Eugene to replace Mario Cristobal. While some of the locals may be a little skeptical of this outsider, there’s no denying the potential Lanning has with the Ducks.

Lanning won’t be the only familiar face in this week one battle, as former Auburn QB Bo Nix, who transferred to Oregon, will likely be the signal caller when these two teams do battle at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Nix, who is 0-2 vs. Georgia, will hope the third time’s the charm.

There’s no doubt that Oregon is walking into a very difficult moment. A new coach and quarterback, heading to the heart of the SEC to take on the defending champs. While very few expect the Ducks to win, I’m fascinated to see how this game unfolds. The emotions of the Bulldogs should be sky-high in their first title defense game, and I believe Lanning can use that to his advantage.

Look for the Ducks to keep this game competitive before eventually falling, but I’d bet on a successful first year for Lanning and the Ducks.
