2. Can Georgia repeat?

Speaking of those champs, how will they fare defending their crown? Coming off an epic season in which they finally conquered their arch enemy Alabama Crimson Tide in a wild 33-18 win for the national championship. It was a magical season, and a magical draft for Georgia as 15 Bulldogs were drafted, including five defensive stars in the first round. While most would understand a rebuild is in order, Kirby Smart says we’ll just reload.

The defense was all-time last year, and it won’t be as good this year, but it can still be national title good. Defensive stars Jalen Carter and Kelee Ringo are top ten potential picks and edge rusher Nolan Smith will become the next rising star as he racks up sacks and rises up the draft boards. As long as Kirby Smart is yelling and screaming on those sidelines, this defense will hold up.

What will be most intriguing this year, is the potential of Georgia relying on their offense rather than their defense in important moments this season. Georgia’s offense should be better than last year. The growth and development of Stetson Bennett will be massive for the Dawgs this season. Bennett doesn’t need to be a Heisman contender for Georgia to repeat, but he’ll need to be better than he was last season.

Having the best tight end duo in the nation should help. Brock Bowers was a diaper dandy last year, hauling in 13 touchdowns to go with over 800 yards receiving. Joining him this year is Arik Gilbert, possibly the most physically impressive tight end I’ve ever seen. With these two beasts to pass to, Georgia should have an offense that can hang with the likes of Alabama and Ohio State.
