5. Greg Schiano (Rutgers at Boston College)

Schiano is one of the coaches who’s not quite there yet, but he can get there quickly with a rough year. It looks as if the Scarlet Knights are poised for a possible step back before a big step forward in 2023.

Not only does Rutgers share a conference with a playoff team, an 11-win team, and possibly the second-best team in the nation, they’re in the same division. That means wins are at a premium and a fast start is a must. A road game against a Power Five opponent would be a tone setter for the 2022 season.

Rutgers’ other non-conference games include Wagner and at Temple. A 3-0 start heading into Big Ten play would be huge, especially considering the next time Rutgers might be favored to win a game is Oct. 22 against Indiana.
