4. Mack Brown (North Carolina vs. App State)

You might not think Mack Brown is on the hot seat, but after consecutive seasons of nothing but disappointing results, it might be time to accept the fact that he should be feeling some heat.

App State is good. In fact, they’re really good. But better than North Carolina? Actually, maybe. A loss to the Mountaineers would do damage far beyond the record at season’s end. It would show recruits that App State is the best football school in the entire state of North Carolina. The Sun Belt isn’t what it was 10 years ago, but don’t be shocked if App State and the AAC come together in the future.

A win for the Mountaineers would be something that the program could point to across the board.

It would be especially damaging to North Carolina given the performance against FAMU in week zero. The Heels look good despite playing against a severely shorthanded FCS team. Still, it was a real game to prepare against an in-state team that the Heels may not even look at as a rival. If North Carolina doesn’t respect App State they will by the end of the game.
