SEC Football: Best games week-by-week in the 2022 season
By Shelbie Warr
Week 4: Arkansas vs. Texas A&M in Arlington
This is an exciting matchup every season, many times going into overtime before the game is decided. It did take Arkansas over a decade to find a win over the Aggies, but they finally did it last year as KJ Jefferson and Treylon Burks made the Texas A&M defense look silly from start to finish.
Don’t expect either team to go quietly in this one, as both are looking to prove that they are part of the SEC elite — maybe A&M a bit more so than the Razorbacks.
Honorable Mention: Florida at Tennessee
How good (or bad) will Florida be? What about Tennessee? We will learn about Florida a bit in Week 2 against Kentucky, but this is the first big test for the Vols throughout the season outside of Pitt, who isn’t all that great of an opponent all things considered. The Volunteers are pretty high on themselves, but no one else seems to be. Florida? Well, I don’t think even their fans know what is going on in that program as of yet. Can Napier be the guy to bring Florida “back” as the Texas fans would say?
Week 5: Kentucky at Ole Miss
An East vs. West showdown that no one talks about and one that could mean a lot to both of these teams as they find their footing for the season. Ole Miss is trying to replace Matt Corrall, which is a big task. They still haven’t made an announcement as to who will be taking on that job. Kentucky has Will Levis who, according to them, is the best quarterback in the SEC — or at least in the East. Will that be true? Probably not, but we let the Wildcats have a bit of happiness before basketball season.
Honorable Mention: LSU at Auburn
This one is going to be a battle of what could be the bottom of the West, or the middle versus the bottom, who knows. However, this is going to be a fun game as it always is. LSU has not named a starting quarterback and Auburn is going with LSU transfer TJ Finley, which makes this matchup a little more exciting. Auburn may have a ceiling of 7-5 this year and we have no idea what LSU is bringing to the table, but this one is still very interesting in my opinion and you should tune in.
