There were plenty of question marks heading into Michigan football’s season opener, but some may have been answered in a blowout win.

Coming in Saturday afternoon’s game, Michigan football had question marks on both sides of the ball. Who would be QB1? Who would replace Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo? Would the Wolverines look just as good, if not better, than they were a year ago?

The Wolverines answered some of those while others, including the quarterback battle, are still without answers.

Cade McNamara got the start against the Rams and completed 9-of-18 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t look terrible, but he also didn’t separate himself.

Still, Michigan cruised to a blowout win over the Rams who really didn’t stand a chance.

What’d we learn?

3. Michigan just flexed its muscle for 60 minutes

A year ago, Michigan won games in the trenches and that was a big reason the Wolverines were the Big Ten champs. They wore teams down up front and that really set them apart from the rest of the Big Ten, for the most part.

On Saturday, that continued.

The offensive line paved the way for a consistent rushing attack and while the passing offense was kind of a snoozefest outside of a 61-yard screen taken to the house, the line really opened some holes and helped the offense churn out 40-plus points with ease.

The defensive front was also dominant up front, just breaking right through that Colorado State line and putting pressure on Clay Millen all game long.

Michigan’s muscle wore Colorado State down.
