Notre Dame football: 3 takeaways from tough loss at No. 2 Ohio State
2. If the Irish can figure out the run game, they’ll be dangerous
Notre Dame is known for having a solid run game, but that didn’t happen on Saturday night despite having some serious dogs in the backfield.
Chris Tyree rushed for 28 yards which led the team and if you think you’re going on the road to beat the Buckeyes, you can’t be putting up those types of numbers to lead the team. Tyree can be a feature back in this offense and he’s a good change of pace from Audric Estime who looks like an absolute truck. Estime played the first meaningful snaps of his career on Saturday against the Buckeyes, rushing for 21 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
Logan Diggs only had four carries for nine yards as the run game was just non-existent and that needs to be figured on moving forward.
The Irish rushed 30 times for 76 yards and a touchdown and that’s not going to cut it against teams like USC, BYU, or Clemson.
