Texas A&M Football: 4 takeaways from delayed win over SHSU

2. The Aggies are lucky that Ainias Smith came back
Senior Ainias Smith could have easily left for the draft a year ago, but he choose to come back for the 2022 season and the Aggies are lucky that he made that decision. He finished with six catches for 164 yards and two scores today, both of which are shown in the video below.
While the freshman and sophomores are ready to go, this team needs a leader on the offensive side of the ball that has been around the block and hasn’t been injured most of the season that he found himself on the starter list (sorry Haynes King, looking at you).
So, that falls on senior Haynes King and junior Devon Achane. Running back Achane was shut down pretty much the whole game, despite a score in the second half, so it was on Ainias to go off and man did he as he has a career day against Sam Houston as he looks to build his draft stock.
Look for him to continue to help Haynes King figure life out as the official starter for a whole season, hopefully, this time.
