SEC football had a wonderful start to the 2022 college football season, going 14-1 over their opening 15 games. Here is how the SEC stands after the first week of the season.

Perhaps Vanderbilt struck the first chronological blow with a crushing of Hawaii, but SEC football’s mark was really made seven days later by the Bulldogs of Georgia.

Coming in as a 17-point favorite against Oregon, the Dawgs beat the living tar out of the Ducks by a score of 49-3. The game was over midway through the second quarter, and the Dawgs would eventually go on to put up 571 yards of total offense to crack the quack.

Not that the SEC would be done against Pac-12 foes during the afternoon. At night, the playoff-dreaming Utes of Utah came to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators.

Under a first-year head coach, several stars began to shine for the Florida side. Anthony Richardson may be everything that the draft scouts say, as he had a wonderful game. That game included a jump fake in a defender’s face that made everyone’s jaw drop. Eventually, the Gators would down the Utes after a late interception in the end zone, and Florida would have a solid first win under coach Billy Napier.

Other conference mates had impressive wins too. Arkansas was able to down reigning playoff team Cincinnati thanks to a big day from KJ Jefferson. Meanwhile, Alabama crushed defending Mountain West champion Utah State by a score of 55-0.

LSU, meanwhile, was the only SEC team to suffer a loss, losing a wild, if not seemingly maddening game against Florida State

The rest of the league dined on cupcakes just fine, meaning that most teams have the ball rolling in week two.
